Change is never easy, and amendments to Texas Law have seen the Health Insurance market explode with a multitude of health plan options. While more competition is always a good thing, it can sometimes be very confusing to consumers who want to get the best deal, but are confused by the sudden array of choice.

There is also the added confusion that not all health plans have to contain all benefits, meaning you’ve suddenly got a whole lot of policies that may or may not contain the things you need. Insurance carriers still do have full health insurance plans, but the advantage of this new flexibility is that consumers can choose which benefits they would like to pay for. This means insurance that is tailored to your needs that won’t break the bank with costs for things you don’t want or need.

You now have the choice between State Mandated Plans and Consumer Choice Plans. Consumer Choice plans will still include things that the State has determined must be included, such as Alzheimer’s and Pregnancy Complications.

The health coverage tax credit program is also available to help certain individuals pay for insurance, this can make health insurance much more affordable if you’re eligible. If you’re on a pension you’re likely to qualify, as well as if you are a displaced worker.

There is also the choice between Fee-for-service plans, and Managed Care plans. Managed care plans may be cheaper as may be required to go to the health care professionals that the insurance company dictates, where as Fee-for-service plans allow you to go anywhere you want.

Another excellent way to save money on your insurance is to see if you can get it as part of a group. Perhaps your employer offers insurance, or your union. Other associations that offer the chance to get in on a group plan are churches and professional associations.

Be smart, look around, and explore your options. That’s the best way to save on health insurance and get a good deal.

Life insurance is a type of insurance that pays a sum of money to the beneficiary of the insured person only if the premiums of insured are in progress. It works like all other insurance policies. In life insurance insured person ensures his life by paying a small amount of premium.
Life Insurance
Actually life insurance is an agreement between insured and insurance company. Insurance company agrees to pay a certain amount of money to insured’s beneficiary in case of death of insured. Beneficiary may claim for the policy only if the premiums of the insured are current.

Life insurance policy offers security to the surviving family members in case death of a loved one. Insurance company tries to overwhelm the loss by paying a sum of money. People may buy life insurance policy from individuals or insurance companies. Sometimes government offers group life insurance to government employees at no cost. Employees can obtain life insurance at reduced rates from the insurance company of their employer.

Cost is the major factor in life insurance policy that totally depends on life, health and occupation of the insured. It can be illustrated as the insurance policy of 24 years old person is inexpensive than 60 years old person. It is available in different types such as whole life insurance, variable life insurance and term life insurance.

Premiums in the initial stages, of the term life insurance policy, are low but it increases gradually as the insured grows mature. Whereas a part of each premium pays for insurance and rest works as tax-free investment in case of whole life and variable life insurance. Amount of premium doesn’t change through out entire policy. It is used to increase death benefit in the end.

Premium remains same in variable life insurance. It provides permanent protection to the insured. It doesn’t offer guarantee to amount of cash value during lifetime of insured.

Choose the best life insurance policy and make your loved ones happy after you.

While group health insurance is ideal, there are several ways to obtain affordable health insurance in Michigan if you are unable to obtain it through an employer-sponsored group health insurance plan.

If you have recently become unemployed, you may be eligible for the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985, or COBRA, which allows you to continue your health insurance after becoming unemployed. You may also be eligible for the services offered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA. Other possible affordable health insurance options in Michigan include insurance conversion, Medicaid, Medicare, and state-sponsored health care plans which focus on low-income individuals, children, and families, or those who can not otherwise afford a health insurance policy.

Yet, if none of these options are available to you, you may have to purchase an individual health insurance plan. However, in Michigan, you can set out to purchase an affordable individual health insurance plan without having to worry about being turned down due to pre-existing health conditions you may have. The only stipulation to this is that you must purchase your individual health insurance plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Why is this stipulation worth accepting? Because it is hard for people with pre-existing health conditions to purchase individual health insurance policies. Health insurance companies sometimes refuse to sell individual health insurance policies to the people because the companies feel they are too “high-risk,?meaning, they are going to be spending a lot of money on them. This is a sad, but true, occurrence.

Do not let the prices of individual health insurance policies keep you from purchasing one, especially if you have a health condition that requires regular care, treatment, and medication. In Michigan, you can obtain affordable health insurance. Contact the Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services for more information about purchasing an affordable individual health insurance plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Less than 50% of the UK population has any form of life insurance cover, says Swiss Re, one of the largest insurance companies in the world. In their latest annual report they estimate that ?.2 trillion worth of insurance cover is needed whereas only ?.8 trillion has been taken up. That leaves an insurance gap of ?.3 trillion.
But in all probability, the gap is not that large. Firstly, there’s the people who are ruled out from having life insurance due to their age – just over 1 in 5 are under 18 years of age, the minimum for life insurance cover, and 1 in 6 are over 65 and they’re effectively uninsurable. Then there’s a raft of single folks aged between 18 and 65 without dependents, and for whom life insurance is just not necessary. Having said that, without doubt, there are still many families who desperately need life insurance but who don’t have cover.
Why do they hold back?
There are still plenty of people who have no idea what life insurance does and because it’s never top of their minds and they don’t care, nothing ever gets done. After all life insurance isn’t exactly a thrill to buy, there’s no pleasurable window-[Spin] buying| shopping| purchasing [/Spin] or sense of enjoyment about it. The likelihood is that unless a financial advisor sits down in front of these people and talks about life insurance, they’ll remain totally uninsured and uninterested.
The media coverage given to the insurance industry also tends not to help. The press is regularly full of stories about one company or another that has turned down a claim. These stories make headlines as behind them, there’s always a sad story of personal tragedy and distress. It all gives the industry a tarnished image and creates a feeling that they can’t be trusted.
Then there are those who realise life insurance is needed but just can’t be bothered or say they can’t afford it. More realistically, for many “can’t afford?actually means, “I [Spin] choose| select| decide [/Spin] not to afford? They might be happy to spend ?,000 a year on a 20 a day smoking routine but are unwilling to cut back to afford the monthly premium that protects their family’s future.
Of course, there is no disputing the fact that some people will have applied for life cover and found the final premium truly unaffordable. Whilst for the majority, life insurance at normal rates is okay, over the last seven years we’ve seen a huge rise in the number of people who have seen the price substantially increased once the insurer has seen their application form. It’s a result of the life insurance companies making it increasingly hard for people to meet the insurers definition of “healthy? Seven years ago half as many people were seeing their premiums increased as a result of the insurance companies rating them as an above average health risk.
Even three to four years ago it was pretty obvious who’d have trouble getting insured at normal rates ?someone with a history of heart or circulatory problems, former cancer suffers and diabetics for example. How the situation has changed. Insurers’ application forms are now much more detailed and health problems that were previously considered acceptable are now only accepted with increased premiums. Take your weight ?insurers are clamping down when they judge a person’s weight to be a risk to their longer-term health. And it’s not just the obviously over weight that attracts the insurer’s notice. Insurers are now using a measurement called the Body Mass Index to identify weight problems. This is a persons weight divided by the square of their height. Insurers now want a BMI of no more than 29, whereas previously up to 40 was fine. This means that a [Spin] female| lady| woman [/Spin] weighing 83 kilos and 1.66 meter tall would now face higher premiums.
People can also be put off by the application process. Whilst about 30% of applicants will receive a decision almost straight away, for others the process can become one delay after another. As if a 16 page application form were not enough, some people are being faced with more forms to complete plus medical examinations. The whole process can take up to 8 weeks, even more, before the applicant knows precisely how much their premium will be. If that works out more that they can simply afford, they’re [Spin] often| frequent| many times [/Spin] too fed up of the whole application process to start again with a new insurance company. That leaves yet another family without insurance.
Despite these problems, the life insurance companies claim that thanks to more sophisticated underwriting procedures, premiums are lower today that they were a few years ago. Furthermore, around 10% of life insurance is bought on the Internet where discounting has become the norm. This too has helped push average premiums down.
Nevertheless, in the author’s view it will take many years to get people covered by life insurance above the 50% mark.

With the amount of information available on the net, you can buy anything, including life insurance. By doing a search on the web, you’ll be flooded with online resources regarding any fact you want to know about life insurance and how to buy it.

Life Insurance ?Is It A Good Deal Online?

Some people have a perception that online life insurance can be cheaper. In reality, life insurance is a standardized and well policed business structure, governed by law. Life insurance companies collect personal information like age, health and sex to calculate personal rates. Since the life insurance industry is based on standardized principals, the actual rates are set by the experience of the carriers. Because of these factors, be cautious of any life insurance company that promises significant discounts on its own life insurance products.

Life Insurance ?How Do You Get A Break?

Whether you buy your life insurance policy offline or through the Internet, it will be in your own interest to take a medical exam. You can always buy a policy without the medical exam, but you will pay more for it because, to the carrier you represent a higher risk. Thus all the rules that normally apply to life insurance, will apply if you purchase insurance online.

Life Insurance ?Buying From Reliable Companies

While it has become easier to buy life insurance, there are still steps you need to take to protect yourself. Anyone that sells life insurance via the web must be a licensed insurance agent in the province or state where you live. Call the Insurance Commissioner’s Office to verify who is licensed near you.As with any product, dealing with a reputable life insurance company is the best way to do business. No matter how you’re buying your policy, make sure you research the company and feel comfortable before purchasing any life insurance.

If you think you have healthcare insurance, here are a few simple questions you might ask yourself: Have you met your deductible? If so, what were your out of pocket costs for the year? How much did you and your employer pay for your healthcare insurance last year and what did you get for it? And where is your money going? According to the California Health Care Foundation[1] 45 million Americans are “uninsured.?While this number may seem alarming, consider the fact that 100% of American’s are essentially uninsured on the 1st day of January, every year, and they remain so until they have met their deductibles-something that insurance companies are increasingly making an impossible thing to do. You owe it to yourself to find out the actual costs of healthcare in order to make intelligent decisions about what you CAN afford. Here are some more statistics that you might find alarming:

1. In 2004, the average healthcare premium employers were charged for a family of four averaged $9,950[2].

2. By 2006, it is predicted that the average annual family insurance premium will reach $14,500[3].

3. National surveys indicate that the primary reason for being uninsured is for the simple reason that insurance is not affordable[4].

4. There are more Americans (50%) who are now worried that they cannot afford their healthcare insurance than there are (42%) who report being worried about not being able to afford their healthcare[5].

How do bills get paid?

Don’t be fooled by the difference between billing and reimbursement. Your insurance company will readily send you a copy of the amount that was billed for your latest healthcare encounter. What was actually paid-if anything-however, is actually another story and it would behoove you to find this out for yourself. Let me give you an example.

On October 6, 2003, the hospital sent a bill to my insurance carrier (Blue Cross of California) in the amount of $11,569.20 for “Inpatient Services?related to an uncomplicated c-section and a 2-day stay. My insurance carrier “discounted?the bill by $9,869.20 to $1,700.00. This is the “fair and reasonable?amount they “pay?for this service. But wait, who paid? I did! This claim put me over my deductible for the year by whopping $7.70. The amount applied to a member’s deductible is always the amount billed minus the “patient savings?minus any insurance reimbursement and amounts “not allowed.?

Mark my word, essentially, you will require major surgery or you will have a significant accident that results in enormous bills before you will meet your deductible-if you are still even able to meet this amount at all. And until you exceed this amount, you are a cash paying patient. Make no mistake about it.

See for yourself. In my case, the amount applied to the deductible for the above transaction was: $11,569.20 – $9,869.20 – $11.00 = $1,689.00.

If you are still a non-believer, I can show you the bill on April 4, 2003 for $766 where I paid $266 and only $84.26 was applied to the deductible. I have many more examples and I’m sure that if you pay attention, you will find plenty of your own.

But can you really afford to pay cash for healthcare?

Absolutely! What you can’t afford, is healthcare insurance. If you have a family, you already know that this is true. If you are single-maybe, but why throw your money down the toilet when you can get so much more for your hard earned cash!? I have a wife and 4 kids. To pay $6,000.00 in premiums and miscellaneous fees this year is simply unacceptable. I’m joining the ranks of the uninsured and I have a good job! I just called Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital to get an update on the cost of a c-section. Low and behold, the cash price for a c-section is $3,000.00. You can call yourself.

But what if you get injured and have massive bills? You have too much to loose.

Of course you do. Hopefully, however, you are not ignorant enough to believe that your healthcare insurance company is going to bail you out under these circumstances. If for some God forsaken reason you are hit by a truck and spend 2 months in the hospital accumulating millions of dollars in bills, I am afraid that you will still be in a pickle because your insurance carrier is sure to sue the trucker’s insurance carrier etc. for the next 10 years while the collectors come after you for unpaid bills.

You owe it to yourself to get smart and stop giving your hard earned cash to this scandalous industry. Please feel free to comment on this story for a lively discussion!

When people are unable to obtain an affordable, employer-sponsored group health insurance plan, they usually figure an individual health insurance plan is their only other option, short of state-sponsored health care. Purchasing an individual health insurance plan is indeed an option, but if you can’t afford it at this time in your life you may want to consider finding affordable health care with a major medical plan.

When comparing individual health insurance plans and major medical plans, you’ll probably find that major medical plans are generally more expensive. But you’re not looking for more expensive! You’re looking for affordable health care! Rest assured, you can find affordable health care with a major medical insurance plan. While you may spend more on monthly premiums when you purchase a major medical insurance plan, you will save money when it comes to major medical costs ?think major surgeries, extended hospital stays, etc. These kinds of health care coverage are much more expensive than, say, a regular check-up. These kinds of health care coverage are also the kinds that will financially break you if you don’t have coverage, or enough coverage, in the event they occur. A regular individual health insurance plan will not cover the same high dollar amount of major medical care that a major medical insurance plan will cover. This is the point at which those higher monthly premiums begin to make sense.

Having health insurance is important. Health care is expensive, and the cost is steadily rising. While regular individual health insurance plans are generally less expensive as [Spin] away| far| distant [/Spin] as monthly premiums are concerned, major medical insurance plans cover a greater portion of the more expensive medical treatments and procedures. Finding affordable health insurance is possible, there are many companies that will help you to find health insurance that will meet your requirements and stay within your budget. Thousands of people in the United States simply go without health insurance because they think they cannot find affordable health insurance. This would explain why there are many individuals in the United States who choose to go without health insurance. Those who do not have health insurance will be less likely to visit a doctor. This means that a lot of times illness and other ailments are not diagnosed until they have developed.

There are numerous different things that will determine what your monthly health insurance will be. Your health insurance rates will change depending upon the kind of policy you have. For example, do you only need health insurance for yourself, or your entire family? The answer will have an impact on any quotes you receive. Are you young, or are you in your senior years? Most health insurance companies adjust your premium based upon your age. Are you self-employed, or are you receiving health insurance through your work? This will also affect the cost of your health insurance.

You never know when an accident might happen and you need a trip to hospital for stitches or a broken bone. These bills will add up quickly but if you have health insurance, you can get the help you need without the worry of receiving a huge bill. If you can’t afford to pay off your medical bills, your credit rating could even suffer. If you have health insurance, you can prevent these problems from ever happening and your credit will be protected for your financial future and your health.

Another way you can make sure that your insurance rates are lowered is to increase the amount of your health insurance deductible. High deductibles equal lower monthly premiums. Anyone that has existing health problems which require extensive medical treatment may find it necessary to have a higher monthly premium.

Simply by researching health insurance options online and spending just a couple of hours searching may well save you money every month. Following on from the tube train and bus bomb attacks in London there was a move from several UK insurance companies to reassure victims that claims would be processed “quickly and sympathetically? This need for reassurance came in light of concerns that many victims of the blasts would not be covered by their existing health and life insurance cover. This would mean that families of the bombing victims could not only lose a relative, but also suffer financial hardship as life insurance companies refuse to pay out on policies.
Standard Life, Axa-PPP and Norwich Union all announced that policy holders would be covered for events on the 7th July. Standard Life said that the company was not looking to “cause more distress” to victims and their families.
Reuters have been told that other firms such as Churchill, Endsleigh and Direct Line are likely to be sympathetic when dealing with people who have been injured or whose holidays have been disrupted, however these insurers have fallen short of announcing complete cover.
Churchill said that it would, “provide cancellation and personal accident cover if customers are physically injured on the way to their holiday departureĀ…in addition, if any of our customers are away on holiday and hear of injury or death to a close relative, we will facilitate their return homeĀ…missed departures due to travel delay in central London will also be treated sympathetically.? This is despite Churchill including ‘acts of terrorism?exclusions into their policies. This means that policies will generally not pay-out if losses are sustained due to any terrorist activities. This represents one of several general exclusion clauses which are [Spin] often| frequent| many times [/Spin] regularly added to many policies and which prevent payout for particular potentially costly situations for the insurers.
The terrorism exclusion is still regularly included in policies despite the introduction in 1993 of the Terrorism Insurance Program which provides reinsurance cover to the majority of U.K. insurers, is expected to absorb a large proportion of the insurance claims resulting from the 7th July attacks. Under the program, the insurance industry as a whole is liable for 75 million pounds per terrorist “event”, with losses above that covered by a mutual reinsurance pool. Should the costs rise above the funds available through the pool, then the UK Treasury will step in to cover the remaining costs.
Another group recently highlighted who may fall foul of this exclusion is the emergency services workers. Unison representatives have warned that this exclusion clause could leave emergency workers and their families high and dry if they are injured or killed. This would prove particularly disastrous for families with personal insurance policies which cover accidents and that also offer mortgage protection, as the potential loss of income due to injury combined with the lack of mortgage cover resulting from the exclusion, could mean those workers?families affected may experience difficulties maintaining their future mortgage payments.
Some fire crews in Somerset have already threatened to go on strike due to claims that they may not be insured if they are injured whilst dealing with a terrorist attack. This action has since been called off, but many emergency workers are still justifiably worried, not only for their own safety, but also their families should anything happen to them whilst responding to a terrible emergency such as has already been seen in London.
Unison ( http://www.unison.org.uk/ ) pointed out that its own insurance policy which is offered to members provided full cover and called for other insurers to do the same.
Sam Oestreicher of Unison said, “We are asking all insurance companies to look at their policies and if they have such exclusion clauses to drop them”.
The Association of British Insurers has also tried to reassure emergency workers and other customers saying, “most types of insurance are readily available without terrorism exclusions? The major personal types of insurance, such as life, household and comprehensive motor insurance provide cover for the effects of a terrorist incident as a standard feature of the policy.”
Today the plethora of online comparison sites such as Moneynet ( http://www.moneynet.co.uk ) or Moneyfacts can search all the insurance policies available and provide guides to help consumers make decisions, however the need for people to check with providers to ensure they are not left unprotected has never been more evident.
The insurance industry itself has admitted that some policies do have exclusion clauses and are also advising policyholders to study the small print or contact their insurance company or broker to determine their cover levels.
